Recognizing officers and deputies who made the most recoveries of stolen vehicles in 2024 On Wednesday, April 16, the Orange County Auto Theft Advisory Commission (OCATAC) held their 35th Annual ATAC Award Ceremony to recognize officers and deputies who made the most recoveries of stolen vehicles in 2024. The following award recipients were recognized from the Sheriff’s Department. Aliso Viejo - Deputy Nicholas Leland Dana Point - Deputy James Denevan Laguna Hills - Deputy Cole Snyder Laguna Niguel - Deputy Scott Cao Laguna Woods - Deputy Erik Goebel Lake Forest - Deputy Mathew Harm North Patrol - Deputy Chad Chavez San Clemente - Deputy Matthew Rudy San Juan Capistrano - Deputy Pauvid Choi Stanton - Deputy Kamran Young Deputy Kamran Young also had the distinction of being the 2nd place winner overall for recovering 19 stolen vehicles with a value of $250,000. Twelve of the vehicles were occupied,
Appreciation for OC Sheriff Mounted Unit On April 2, the Laguna Beach Police Department, in partnership with the Laguna Beach Police and Community Foundation, hosted a fundraising event at Heisler Park dedicated to the establishment of a mounted police unit. During the event, participants had the opportunity to meet horses from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Mounted Unit. This memorable experience was made possible by the generous support of Sergeant Chris Eiben and Deputy David Schenewerk. Jeff Calvert, the Chief of the Laguna Beach Police Department, took a moment to express his deepest appreciation for the unwavering support received from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Mounted Unit. Chief Calvert wrote: “A very special thanks to Sergeant Chris Eiben, Deputy David Schenewerk, along with their horses. They were a tremendous hit! We appreciate their time and patience with the dozens of foundation members, donors, and public at large that either attended the event, or approached the horses as they walked through the park. We value our relationship with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and the mutual support provided to our police department.” Honor Guard acknowledged by LAPD On March 3, the OC Sheriff’s Honor Guard participated in the funeral services for LAPD Reserve Officer Lloyd Glick. Retired Sergeant Rich Duran with LAPD wrote: “Reserve Officer Glick was our bugler for 20 years playing final taps for over 200 funerals. I made a request to several Southern California Honor Guard units to attend the service. Your agency answered the call. Deputies Mike Duran, Mong Chhith, Matt Draheim and Chris Anderson went beyond the call of duty to honor Lloyd.” •••••••• •••••••• ••••••••••
which resulted in 10 suspects arrested. Congratulations to the awardees for their dedication to serving the residents of Orange County.
